Hawkeye Boat Sales was born out of a passion for boating and a habit for customer service. Allan ‘AJ’ Becker started Hawkeye Boat Sales out of Hawkeye Auto Sales in 1985. A lifelong boater AJ was known for always having some of the best boats and getting the most performance out of them. A steady stream of used boat customers facilitated the need to find a new boat line. Along came the answer, a real head turner at the time, a 1986 Baja 250 Force “Top Gun” in on trade. What we refer to as the boat “that started it all”! AJ quickly fell in love with the quality, craftsmanship and performance of the brand and inquired how to become a dealer. Through mere persistence Hawkeye Boat Sales officially became the Iowa dealer for Baja Performance Boats in 1989.

Looking back, it was perfect timing for the Becker family, or as some may look at it for the Baja family also. AJ put tireless hours into progressing his hobby to a successful business. In 1990 Hawkeye won their first of many Presidents’ Awards for sales achievements started our long reign in the Top 10 as well as numerous Top 5 finishes. As they expanded their line in the early 1990s, Baja confirmed its place as the industry leader in style, performance and quality with the .38 Special™ and the 272. They kept pushing the envelope — introducing the 20 Outlaw™ and 32 Outlaw™ with modern performance styling for the power-hungry, speed-seeking, hard-core offshore runner. Along with a rich tradition of innovation, a superior standard of quality has allowed Baja to maintain its position as the #1 Performance Boat in the world. To attain that level takes a long term commitment to achieving the best in design, engineering and production. . .and accepting nothing less. Performance boating was evolving and taking off and so was Hawkeye Boat Sales. In 1998 Hawkeye Boat Sales won their first Number 1 Dealer distinction. In 2004 and 2005 Hawkeye Boat Sales, with a state population smaller than other dealer’s hometowns, won greatest sales in dollars and units, earning the World’s Largest Baja Dealer distinction! We are very proud of this feat but even more so that we also earned a much coveted Customer Satisfaction Index award. We feel these awards go hand in hand but earning both in the same year is a testament to our success. We can only succeed if our customers are completely satisfied!

Crownline Boats was picked up soon after their inception in 1992, thus continuing and longtime relationship with friends from Celebrity boats. Crownline Boats, Inc. is a family-owned pleasure boat manufacturer located in West Frankfort, Illinois. Founded and incorporated in 1990 by the Claxton family, the company is one of the fastest growing independently owned boat manufacturers in the industry. Since its beginning, Crownline has successfully introduced 40 different models ranging from a 17'6" open HYPERLINK "javascript:void(null);" bow to a 33' cabin cruiser. At present, Crownline has produced and shipped over 45,000 boats to dealers world-wide. Crownline has won multiple prestigious customer satisfaction awards: The J.D. Power and Associates award for "Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among Owners of Small Runabouts (16 to 19 feet)" and the "Marine Industry Customer Satisfaction Index for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction." In 1998, Cruisers Yachts was added the Hawkeye lineup. One of the world's premier providers of midsize to luxury pleasure yachts, Cruisers accommodated a growing niche for our customers as their tastes matured. A company with over 100 years in existence, that has experienced the ebb and flow of the marine industry, and it survived due to both the tenaciousness of its people and the superb quality of its product. When manufacturing began, the Cruisers workers took great pains to ensure that the boats were made to a very high quality. If a mistake occurred, they would guarantee not only that it was corrected, but that it would not occur in the next boat. Every worker realized that he or she had to do their utmost to keep Cruisers competitive against entrenched builders. In 1993, KCS International Inc. purchased the company it renamed Cruisers Yachts and, in the process, launched an upswing that would take the marine industry and pleasure-boating public by storm. Almost a decade and a half later, Cruisers Yachts produces 15 models from 28 to 56 feet in its expanded Oconto facility and in a new boatbuilding operation in Wilmington, North Carolina.

In 1999, Bennington Pontoons filled a void in Hawkeye’s product lineup with their industry leading pontoon and sport decks. Bennington Marine received their third consecutive JD Power Award for “Highest in Customer Satisfaction” with pontoon boats in 2005. The award is based solely on customer surveys, charts key categories such as boat quality and reliability, value for money, design and styling, ride and handling, maintenance and overall ranking. Bennington received top scores of “5” in all 6 areas. Bennington Marine is currently the only pontoon manufacturer to receive this award. They also manufacture the AZURE product line of sport boats, and the entry level Sedona pontoon product line. The founders of Bennington took the time to research the problems current manufacturers were having after years of use. They have revolutionized the pontoon industry by simply correcting these problems so their product does not just look good on the showroom floor but still Bennington has been the perfect addition to Hawkeye product line of only carrying the best of the best.
